New Belgium/Riverbend Malt House Collaboration

This is pretty cool news.  I know a lot of the local breweries have used Riverbend before but it’s sweet to see them getting hooked up with a big brewery.  Its also nice that New Belgium is investing in the local economy this way.  Hopefully they continue to do so along with the other big boys that just moved into town.

"Having been grown by farmers in North Carolina for over 200 hundred
years and hand crafted utilizing traditional floor malting techniques,
the Carolina Rye malt embodies the terroir of the southeast,” said
Riverbend co-founder Brian Simpson. “Riverbend Malt House is excited
that New Belgium will bring this taste of the South to so many new
palates."

    1. Totally. Blue Ridge Hops has already been used by several breweries (Burial, Pisgah, & Oyster House locally). Its a new industry in WNC and we’re right at the southern edge of the hop latitudes so it may be awhile before the locally grown hops industry takes off but it will! (Blue Ridge Hops, Echoview Farm, Holmes Brothers Hops)
